Jeffrey Archer, in my opinion, has always been the bestseller for reasons that are very specific and unique to him. His books are fast-paced, absolute page-turners, but not in conventional, thriller, or any other stereotypic. His books always (at least the three I've read prior to this) had very large stories, with very easily readable, subtle, simple style, which make them page-turners. The stories are always about something extraordinary a ordinary person does. And also the same story consists of a extraordinary men, at least in terms of wealth, as the antagonist, or a rival, to be specific.
The stories span a lot of years. Making it more of a saga, giving it a biographical tone.
This book is no different. But in this, i felt, by taking the character POV for division and narration, the book became quite long than necessary, given the overall story. It could've been told in a very less number of pages, but may be, that will take away the chance of making a seven-book series.
And also, as usual, keeping with the kind of stories is the kind of twists he gives. Stories of peoples' lives and so the twists, which are subtle and simple, coming at a unexpected time, make Archer's book enjoyable.
Even in this book, though there were many twist in the between, they didn't surprise me. The story too contains the stock ingredients, Rich people, families, schools, colleges, friendship, loyalty, family secrets etc.
Even at the end of this book, there is climax that might irritate you, making you wonder as to where the story is headed, because of the fact that it changes suddenly on its heels, spins around in a all together different direction.

“Only Time Will Tell” is the second book of Jeffrey Archer I read so far. The First one was “Shall We Tell The President”. This book will leave you hanging in air, as this is the first book in the Clifton Chronicles.

Jeffery Archer knows how to put a simple story in such an excellent way that, you can’t even think of putting down the book once you start reading it. Like all of his book this book to has many twists and turns and few jaw dropping moments, specially the last line from the book which will leave you breathless. after reading the last line you will be like “ohh no, what now?”, you can’t just wait for second book in the trilogy.

The book is all about the legendary story of the protagonist “Harry Clifton”, is the first book in Clifton Chronicles of three books. The book is set in pre-second world war era (1919 to 1940) and basically revolves around two families – Barrington and Clifton. This first book has some amazing characters like Old Jack, Harry, Massie, Giles and many more and story is told from the perspective of all the major characters.

The character development in this book is brilliant, plot is interesting and brilliantly expressed and narration is also good. Overall a very interesting and good read for all fiction fans.

Archer is undoubtedly the master of storytelling, and the way he weaves his script through one of the most interesting character lineups is nothing short of amazing. This is one of the few books where the readers will find it difficult to point out who the main character is.

Readers looking for an introduction to the good ole times are in for a treat. The book is set between the first and second world war, and Archer succeeds in creating a pathway for the imaginative mind to visit the times of gold, brass and character.

At first read, the book does seem to be channeling the poor-meet-rich-boy-in-school, but as the story progresses, the master strokes of Archer take the story to a whole new level, and brings us to the long awaited Archerverse that brings together character, past and fortune.

Even the greatest Archer fan will have to admit that the story line is not one of the greatest, and even becomes probable at the end of the day, but what saves the book is the one master stroke that brings all critics to their knees.

This is a quintessential page-turner, with nary a boring moment. With such layered characters pitted against each other in such an intensely written book, not a single paragraph is out of digressive.
